Melanie Lynskey

 Melanie Jayne Lynskey ( born 16 May 1977) is a New Zealand actress. Famous for her portrayals complex women and her command of American dialects, she appears mostly in independent films. Lynskey has been awarded two Critics Choice Awards, an HCA Award, a Gracie one, a New Zealand Film Award, an Hollywood Film Award, and an award from the Sundance Special Jury Award, along with Gotham, Satellite, Saturn, Golden Nymph, Independent Spirit, Screen Actors Guild and Primetime Emmy Award nominations.





 Lynskey made her debut on the screen in Heavenly Creatures (1994), receiving a New Zealand Film Award for her performance as a teenage murderess Pauline Parker. She later was in a variety of international productions, including Ever After (1998), Detroit Rock City, But I'm A Cheerleader The Cherry Orchard, Snakeskin (2001), Shooters, Abandon, Sweet Home Alabama (2/22/02). Lynskey was an actor with a lot of recognition after making the move to the United States. She is most well-known for her role in a range of small-scale and big-budget films, including Shattered Glass (2003) and Flags of Our Fathers (2006).





 Lynskey's lead role in the film Hello I Must Be Going as a depressed divorcee received an acclaim from critics in 2012 as well as received a Gotham Award nomination. This was a pivotal point in her career. The roles she played in the following films: The Big Ask (2013) and Happy Christmas, We’ll Never Have Paris (all 2014), The Intervention (all 2016), Rainbow Time, Little Boxes (2016), I Don’t Feel at home in This World Anymore (both 2017), Sadie (2018) and Lady of the Manor (2021) made her known as a well-known figure in the American independent film industry.
